As hard as we work to keep usable items out of the landfill (and we work VERY hard at it), some items just belong at the dump. For your awareness, we wanted to flag two big trash events coming up this Saturday, Sept. 26: Hazardous Waste Day in LebanonThis event, hosted by the Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission, will be held from 9 to noon at DHMC’s Lot 27 at 52 Labombard Road. Here’s the event page, which includes a detailed list of what you can (and cannot) bring, plus costs and limitations for residents of the commission’s member towns (which are all in NH) and non-member towns. “Big Trash” Day in ThetfordAlso from 9 to noon, the Greater Upper Valley Solid Waste Management District will be accepting electronics, tires and “big trash.” The event is open only to residents of the district’s 10 member towns (all are in VT, roughly from Norwich to Vershire and out to Bridgewater). It’s your chance to toss stuff like furniture, carpets, mattresses and more. Some categories are prohibited and most items require a fee. More info here and here.
